I caved...

I turned the air on.  Yep.  First day of "hotness" and I caved.
I feel so very blessed to have air conditioning.  Every time I think about it, or use it, I THANK GOD for the blessing.  Seriously.  It is such a bonus on hot days...
I do, however, have a hard time turning it on.  I see $ signs in my head turning as fast as they can.  Click $ Click $ Click $ Click $
My husband, on the other hand, doesn't have a problem with it.  Aside from the serious sweating problem he has, lol, he is quick to remind me that during the day he is forced to wear a uniform made out of dark BLACK canvas, big calf high BLACK steel toed boots,  a heavy BLACK bullet proof vest, as well as a 15-20 pound BLACK gun belt.  He thinks after wearing that around for 12 hours in the sweltering heat, he is entitled to using his air conditioning.  This is where I insert .." Yeah, but..." and proceed with what I had to "wear" all day ( a three year old wanting to play baseball, a  baby wanting to be picked up and cuddled, a six year old wanting to play tag..)
I called him this afternoon.  I just HAVE to turn on the air.  The baby hasn't had a nap because she's just too hot.  She's been crying for an hour.  (which is VERY UNUSUAL for this child who loves her naps!!)  Was there anything I needed to do before turning it on.?

(I love him to bits..but lets be honest)  this stubborn, sometimes selfish, I LIKE IT COLD, man   says "well..if you have to, go for it.  Maybe we'll be able to cool it down and turn it off tonight."

HUH?
Somewhere along the 11 years of marriage we seem to have switched sides...
Turn it off?
Interesting.

Found you over at Grace, Joy, and Hope. I love the masthead. That is one of my favorite scripture passages. Mostly because I have to keep reminding myself...

I just moved from air conditioning at the beach (didn't need it) to no air further inland (definitely need it). However, during the move, I lost a certain male person that always had my opposing temperature, so now, I only have myself to regulate the temp with. Mixed blessings...

Beautiful pictures of your family. You are blessed, even without the AC. ;)

I was out for a bit yesterday and when I came home, the windows were all closed and our two window air conditioners had been installed by my hubby. This involved carrying them, lifting them, positioning them just right, running all the extension cords, blowing a couple fusing and figuring out which ones and why ... the list goes on. So, next time you thank God for air conditioning also thank Him that you can turn it on with the touch of a switch!

oh no, he's switched sides!!! A/c is one of the few indulgences that we do whatever we want with. It is H.O.T. in TX and no way could we make it without. None of us would be sleeping either.

Ps- I saw that amazon has those tykelights and they ship to Canada, so I bet there are other online stores that also do if they didn't have the color/price you want.

Thanks for leaving your comment on my blog. We really wanted the names of our children to be meaningful, and each- Grace, Joy, Hope, were things we'd been really experiencing and learning during the times of their births. They also are very characteristic of the girls so far.
Did I see that your husband is a lead worshipper? We were in youth ministry for about 7 years before moving back to my husband's hometown and currently own a business, which is also a ministry to us.
Enjoy the air...I"m SO glad we're blessed with access to it, especially since I"m pregnant with our next baby right now! :)

I'm with you... hate turning on the air conditioning.

Too funny that you both seem to have swapped roles.

By the sounds of the weather you will be getting this weekend, you will need the air conditioning...

Oh he's good the old make it think its your idea, hahahahaha
I have one of those at home too and we turned our AC on as well. In fact I am sitting here with a sweater and a coat over my legs as I type BRRRRRR but it keeps him quiet and so I think it's pretty fair trade off.

On the weeks that I'm solo I tend to leave the AC off. When the kids are here I'll turn it on during an extended heat wave. If the forecast is calling for cooler temps within a day I made my kids suffer! Besides....there Dad doesn't have AC...

Hum, Amy... Mike is like my Kevin... always hot. Okay girls I'm talking about temperature!!

I got to thinking if your Mike is talking about turning the air off... perhaps, he's wanting to save money. Has he been out looking at guitars or something? Sounds like a man wanting to direct his funds to something REALLY important!!

I need to update my post! I have been to Canada! Toronto, Montreal, Ottowa and Niagara Falls. I loved Toronto so much, I'd want to move there if it wasn't for my family! Found the coolest coffee shop ever there. (Cafe Supreme) One of the very best trips I've ever had. Got my pic taken w/ the Stanley Cup too. :-) MSG me back- would love to know what area you live in!
